CROWN LENGTHENING

CROWN LENGTHENING

Crown lengthening is a surgical procedure that reshapes the gums (and often the underlying bone) to expose more of the healthy tooth. This procedure can be done for cosmetic reasons to improve the proportions of your smile.

Crown lengthening can also be performed as part of an overall treatment plan to fit a decayed tooth with a crown. In this instance, crown lengthening is done to expose more healthy tooth for the crown to hold to, and to give the new crown room so that it doesn’t damage the gum and bone tissue.
